TikTok is one of the fastest rising video-sharing platforms on the internet today. In fact, it is currently at its tipping point because of the COVID-19 lockdown around the world. Since the beginning of March and during the time when every country was gradually put on quarantine, its user base has gone up from 19.4 million to 20.4 million.

Originally targeted towards Generation Z, TikTok has also captivated older generation users as well as mainstream celebrities and even politicians including Isko Moreno, Vice Ganda, Jodi Santamaria, and Kim Chiu. The platform serves as a bridge between people and their friends or fans. In Tacloban City, SK executives have even organized a Tiktok video contest to help people fight off boredom during indoors. They have received more than 8,000 submissions.
