Our Favorite Moments at the Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay, Jopay Concert

The Davao Bloggers Society was invited by Honor Ph to attend the “Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay, Jopay” concert, held at the USEP Gym. The attendees enjoyed all the performances, both local talents and visitor bands from Manila. Here are our favorite moments from the event:

I have had the pleasure of witnessing the amazing performances of Sponge Cola and Mayonnaise on multiple occasions in the past, and I am confident in their ability to deliver yet another stellar performance during the concert. These two bands are absolute powerhouses when it comes to delivering amazing performances, and I knew that they were going to bring their A-game to the stage once again. And last weekend was no exception, as they delivered a show that left the crowd absolutely spellbound.

However, what truly blew me away was the opportunity to see some of the local Davao acts take the stage and shine in their own right. Acts like Nairud, Isla Riddim, Player Two, and Dj Jed each brought their own unique style and energy to the stage, and it was incredible to see them step up and claim the spotlight. Each performance was top-notch, and it’s clear that Davao has some seriously impressive talent just waiting to be discovered.

What I loved most about the concert was the incredible variety of musical styles and abilities on display. From rock to reggae to electronic beats, there was something for everyone, and the audience was clearly loving every minute of it. It was a true testament to the incredible talent that exists in Davao, and I left the concert feeling inspired and grateful to have witnessed such an amazing showcase of local artistry.” – Gem Tadefa, Pages Flipper

“I am happy we were given a chance by Honorph to witness the concert. I was able to relax and enjoy without thinking of the kids for a while. It was a good experience for me. Something I don’t do everyday . One of the things I love about the concert is that some of our local artist from davao were given a spotlight to showcase their talents and also shared some of there original songs.

As a music enthusiast, I realized I have missed a lot of good songs now for example Libre’s song is good with a heart warming meaning and with that I will start exploring again different genre of songs and music. I also love how Yael of spongecola hyped up the crowd he was funny truly a great entertainer I enjoyed his songs especially because I used to sing his songs way back in highschool to bad I was waiting for him to sing my favorite song of his “Gemini”. Mayonnaise also grace as with their old hits specially the famous Jopay and also their rendition of laklak the millennials went wild.” – Goin Pineda, Let’s Get Goin’

“HONORed here to witness one of my favorite Bands of early 2000s, Spongecola, which actually “Kay Tagal kong Hinintay” to perform again with their “Jeepney” song, I should have shouted “Crazy for You”, their revival hit song way back 20 years ago haha. That was a blast! The Davao Local Bands were just amazing, especially the Player 2. At long last, the Mayonnaise Band had a nice rendition of “Jopay” which everyone waited for.” – Emmanuel Alba, Pop Davao

“The Sponge Cola performance was great! Yael had everything planned out, from audience engagement to all out jamming performance. Mayonnaise had me at Bakit part 2. I loved it.” ? – Jim Carlo Magnaye, Digital Davao

“My favorite part was Spongecola’s set where Yael got the audience to participate in the show. I honestly find it hard to relax in a crowd much less jump and yell but the energy was compelling and I found myself joining in on the fun.

I love the genuine appreciation for the fans of both Spongecola and Mayonnaise. You can really see how much they love what they are doing and they’ve repeatedly expressed how touched they are of the audience’s enthusiasm for their performance.” – Pau Ruta, Pam for the Glam and Us En Route

“Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay: JOPAY” concert was my first concert experience of 2023. My fave part was when Spongecola started rocking the floor. No dull moments and Yael (vocalist) was the best performer for me. ‘Twas an amazing part when the crowd gets wild until the end of their performance! LAHI RA JUD!” – Jade Factura, Jade Factura Vlog

“Everyone was looking forward to Mayonnaise (especially since they’re trending these days) and Sponge Cola, which are big bands from the early 2000s. Both performances were great, and I was especially amazed by Yael’s tactics; he was such a fun and charismatic performer!

Apart from the big two, I enjoyed the local performers, Isla Riddim, Nairud, Jed Ignacio, PLAYERTWO, as well. In fact, they were the most that I’ve been looking forward to seeing, because I rarely go to local gigs nowadays. They were all so good in their performances. The other front acts from Manila, Libre, and Aikee (who was also the host) were entertaining and each carried their live stunts perfectly as well.” – NeP-C Ledesma, The Pop Blog and Electricmoi

“It has been years since my last local concert and it never fails to amaze me how talented Filipinos are. The crowd was fun and participative. I just want to emphasize how I love Yael’s humor and how he loves to interact with the audience. Watching a concert with your friends is definitely something you should try at least once in your lifetime. Thank Honor PH for making my Araw ng Davao 2023 a memorable one.” – Clea Banal, CleaBanal.Com
