This year’s Davao Bloggers Society Gala for a Cause delivered exactly that: a stunning, top-tier celebration of style, storytelling, and shared purpose. Held last November 29, 2024, the event brought together DBS members, partners, and friends for an evening that was exquisite in every sense of the word. It’s elegant, heartfelt, and grounded in a mission far bigger than the ballroom it filled.
From the iconic Parade of Stars to the glowing energy of the Davao Blog Awards, the program unfolded like a masterfully curated show. Each moment felt like a celebration of how far DBS has come and how bright its creative community continues to shine.
The night showcased partnerships with some of the country’s most respected brands, including PLDT Home, foodpanda, HONOR, ASUS, Cebu Pacific Air, Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark, Metrobank, The Travel Club, and many more. Their support made the evening not only glamorous but also deeply generous, with applause and shared triumphs, as this year’s Davao Blog Awards honored creators who have shaped the digital landscape with their voice, vision, and heart. Each award lifted the room a little higher, as if the chandeliers themselves were cheering.
Blogger of the Year is John Balagtas with his JKtheDailyTrips is our foodpanda’s standout storyteller, his digital presence turned everyday cravings into cultural conversations. His win crowned the night with a flourish, carrying the spirit of excellence that Davao creatives proudly uphold.
Travel content soared as Joseph Lim, the creator of iamjosemanuel.com, was awarded Best Travel Blog, whisking readers across islands and skylines with his adventures, proving that wanderlust is an art form.
The community also celebrated fresh voices. The Breakthrough Blogger of the Year and Best Special Interest Blog awards were presented to Olivia Limos and her OC-craft, which embodied the electric rush of discovery, proving that when passion meets consistency, the digital universe listens.
And rounding the circle of triumphs, the Best Lifestyle Blog highlighted Jerickson Hinggo's Eat Well. Travel Often.who found beauty in the everyday. Pauline Ruta bagged the Best Personal Blog with her Pam For The Glam, showcasing her curated obsessions and living her truths with glamour, grit, and grace. Michael Cael, with his khel kael | davao wins the Social Media Star of the Year for his continued rise on the platform.
This year’s winners remind us that blogging is more than posting online. It is storytelling as service. It is community-building. It is culture in motion. But beyond the sparkle and spectacle, the heart of the night really belonged to our cause.
For years, DBS has quietly supported different communities through meaningful outreach, providing food, medical support, and assistance where it is most needed. For years, the organization embraced a more sustainable vision by choosing to adopt SOS Children’s Village Davao as its long-term beneficiary. The turnover, led by DBS Trustee Pau Ruta, became the emotional peak of the event. It was a reminder that creativity gains its highest purpose when it leads to compassion, connection, and continuity.
With the help of PLDT, DBS gives the SOS Children’s Village a sponsored 1-year FREE internet connection and a Disney Channel subscription as DBS’s commitment to creating lasting positive change, championing children’s welfare, and using the influence of digital creatives for something profoundly meaningful. DBS also turned over a 3-in-1 printer to support the children’s educational and creative needs, providing them with a reliable tool for learning, printing school requirements, and exploring digital creativity. This gesture reflects DBS’s belief that access to technology is no longer a luxury but a bridge to opportunity, curiosity, and confidence.
These contributions go beyond material support. They represent an investment in stories yet to be written, dreams yet to be shaped, and young minds that deserve both connection and care. Through partnerships that align purpose with impact, DBS continues to prove that when creativity is guided by compassion, it can extend far beyond screens and stages, reaching communities where it truly matters most.
The night closed with cheers, final raffle surprises (including a Cebu Pacific domestic round-trip flight and a luxurious overnight stay at Jpark Island Resort), and a heartfelt message from DBS President Gem Tadefa, who reminded everyone that while the year was filled with milestones, it was the spirit of community that made every win possible.
