Women’s Month is often celebrated with powerful stories of leadership, achievement, and visibility. But sometimes the most meaningful stories come from quiet persistence, from women who simply keep showing up every day despite the storms within them.
Near Chua is one of those women.
Beyond the content she shares online, Near describes herself as someone living with a mental health disorder who continues to bravely face each day while searching for happiness in her own way. Her blog, In Search of Eudemonia, reflects that journey exactly. It is not about pretending life is perfect. It is about documenting the struggle, the growth, and the small victories that make life meaningful.
What makes Near’s story compelling is how curiosity shapes her life. She explores the world through different experiences and passions. Cooking led her to culinary school. Curiosity about the sea brought her into freediving. A childhood dream of becoming a princess turned into mermaiding. Photography, drawing, and even diamond painting became ways to calm her mind when it becomes too crowded with thoughts. In a quiet but honest way, her life is built around the things that make her feel alive.
Her journey into content creation began long before she formally joined the Davao Bloggers Society. She used to write blog posts, share poems, create cooking videos, and post snippets of her life online. Joining DBS helped her realize that content creation is more than just posting at random. It requires intention, creativity, and responsibility toward the audience who might be listening.
Today, Near approaches content with greater mindfulness. She understands that the digital space is shared by people from different backgrounds and ages. Because of this, she tries to be more thoughtful about what she shares and how her words might affect others.
“Being a woman in the digital creator space today means having the chance to share my voice, perspectives, and experiences in ways that can inspire and empower others.”
Of course, the internet can be a difficult place. Women often face stronger scrutiny, unrealistic expectations, and endless comparisons. Near navigates this by reminding herself that her worth is not defined by anonymous opinions online. Instead, she focuses on creating content that reflects who she truly is and building a community grounded in kindness and respect.
For her, a strong woman today is not defined by dominance or visibility, but by self-awareness and compassion.
“A strong woman is someone who knows her worth, keeps growing, and lifts others along the way.”
Her inspiration comes from someone close to home: her mother. Watching her mother balance career, motherhood, and family life showed Near what resilience and dedication truly look like. That example continues to guide her own journey.
Within DBS, Near has also begun to see the impact of her work. During the recent Davao Blog Awards, she was nominated for Breakthrough Blogger of the Year and Best Personal Blog. For someone who once questioned whether her voice deserved recognition, those nominations became a powerful reminder that her story resonates with others.
Still, recognition is not what drives her work.
The true purpose behind her content remains simple: to understand the world, to explore experiences, and to discover what happiness truly means.
“The real growth comes from staying dedicated to my journey as a creator and remembering why I started in the first place.”
This Women’s Month, Near Chua reminds us that strength does not always arrive with loud victories.
Sometimes it appears in a woman who continues to search, grow, and believe that happiness can still be found.
