Davao Bloggers Society Hits Pause on the Hustle with First-Ever “BREAKTIME” Pickleball Event

Jul 25, 2026 | Events

Sometimes, the best way to recharge is to simply step away from work, even just for an afternoon.

That was exactly the idea behind BREAKTIME, the first pickleball Open Play organized by the Davao Bloggers Society. Bringing together a diverse mix of participants from business owners, merchants, and individuals simply looking to unwind, the event transformed an ordinary weekday into an afternoon filled with friendly rallies, laughter, and meaningful connections at Dinkz Pickleball Hub.

Designed as a refreshing escape from deadlines, calendars, and inboxes, BREAKTIME encouraged participants to set work aside and embrace movement, camaraderie, and a little healthy competition. While the event centered around fun and recreation, the courts quickly came alive with exciting matches as players brought out their game.

For an event aptly named BREAKTIME, things became surprisingly competitive, but in the best way possible. Every game showcased sportsmanship, encouragement, and the growing passion for pickleball among the participants, whether they were seasoned players or trying the sport for the first time.

The afternoon also celebrated outstanding performances by recognizing the event's Top 3 players, adding another exciting highlight to an already memorable gathering. But at BREAKTIME, nobody truly went home empty-handed. Thanks to the support of foodpanda, every participant was in for a treat, making the event a rewarding experience for everyone.

Leading the successful on-site execution of the event were Davao Bloggers Society Internal Vice President Sarah Aterrado and John Balagtas, who served as the event's ground organizers, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone from the first serve to the final match.

More than just a sporting event, BREAKTIME reflected the Davao Bloggers Society's commitment to building stronger relationships within its community by creating spaces where people can unwind, forge new connections, and make lasting memories beyond the workplace and the digital world.

As the paddles were packed away and the final photos were taken, one thing became clear… sometimes, all it takes is a well-deserved break to bring people together.

And if the success of the first BREAKTIME is any indication, the Davao Bloggers Society is just getting started.
