Pay Your Hirna Rides Digitally with Paymaya

We are still at the onset of a pandemic, but due to the inevitable economical losses of our government and many of our citizens, most of our main cities are now under GCQ (General Community Quarantine). By the middle of June, many of the cities are set to be under MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantine). This means that almost every facet of our society is going back to normal. The “new normal,” as what it’s called, is now in practice, and it is not without its risks. Hence, companies like hirna and Paymaya have set on a partnership that can minimize the risks.

Digital financial services leader PayMaya, in partnership with hirna, a ride-hailing app in Davao, Iloilo, Butuan, and Bacolod, now allows cashless payments. The World Health Organization has warned the world that the COVID-19 virus might stay on paper, including money. Hence, there is a need for more digital solutions that would make commuters refrain from using and exchanging cash.

The Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) mandated several agencies to offer contactless payment options to help limit the transmission of the COVID-19 disease. hirna is amongst the very first transportation apps that have enabled digital payment features, with Paymaya providing smooth cashless payment transfers.

This program started on the 5th of June, and many riders and commuters are already enjoying the feature. Drivers can begin accepting payments via Paymaya by installing the PayMaya Negosyo app (http://pymy.co/PayMayaNegosyo) on their phones and register their valid ID. This registration process will only take 24 hrs max.

“When we launched hirna, our promise was to provide a safe, reliable, and convenient transportation option to commuters. By providing our passengers with digital payment options through PayMaya, we are helping ensure a safer ride whenever they book a ride with one of our partner taxis,” said hirna President and CEO Francisco “Coco” Mauricio.

Paymaya is currently finalizing its partnerships with more taxi, bus, and TNVS companies to enable them to offer these cashless benefits. The companies may also pay their drivers and other employees disbursements, commissions, and incentives via the Paymaya app.

“We are excited to work with hirna and its partner drivers in promoting cashless adoption in their ecosystems as part of the New Normal. Enabling safe transportation for all through digital payments is part of our thrust with our partnership with the DOTr and the LTFRB. By supporting digital payments for the transportation sector, PayMaya’s cashless solutions provide greater safety and more convenience for operators, drivers, and commuters,” added PayMaya President Shailesh Baidwan.
