DBS Leads Relief Effort for Manay After the 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake

Weeks after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Manay, Davao Oriental, on October 10, 2025, life in the coastal town remains far from normal. Running water is still unavailable in several areas, forcing residents to rely on donated supplies for drinking and nearby streams for washing. Signal and electricity remain unstable, with power running for only about 30 minutes a day. These daily struggles serve as a stark reminder of how much help and hope are still needed.

In response to this ongoing situation, the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS), in partnership with Ripple8 and foodpanda, stepped in to extend much-needed relief to the affected families. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, DBS helped gather and distribute essential supplies, including 30 boxes of drinkable water, boxes of hygiene products such as sanitary pads, alcohol, soap, and shampoo, as well as 50 boxes of multivitamins, which helped residents recover and regain their strength.

All donations were handed over to the Metro Davao United Fire and Rescue Inc., which took charge of transporting and distributing the goods to Manay, the town hardest hit by the earthquake.

Through this effort, DBS, Ripple8, and foodpanda demonstrate that bayanihan and compassion remain stronger than any tremor, proving that when communities come together, healing and hope will always find their way back.
